A great place to start looking for a job in Mobile App development in Singapore is the internet. An updated profile with a recent photo is all you need to dive into job hunting online. There are a plethora of sites online which make it easy for employers and potential candidates to connect with each other. You can even send in your resume directly through the company’s website.

Singapore is a great place to work in, but has a very competitive job market. If you are a mobile app developer, and are looking for a lob, the following tips would help you:

  • Network – Most people land jobs because of their connections. Finding out where the mobile developers hang around after work and getting to know them is a great way of networking. Don’t network with the intent of finding a job. Network with people to get to know them on a personal level as they will then know that you genuinely want to form a connection with them. People are much more likely to recommend a friend for a job than a complete stranger.
  • Find out how much firms pay for app development – Singapore firms are known to be very competitive. It is a good idea to find out the salaries offered so that you know you aren’t getting low-balled.
  • Use LinkedIn – If you aren’t on LinkedIn, you are doing yourself a disservice. Many people stay away from LinkedIn because they aren’t huge fans of social media. LinkedIn, by definition, is a social media platform, but it’s a different kind of social media. It works great because it is all about professional networking and not personal networking. Many businesses have LinkedIn accounts and are constantly using the service to look for potential employees; so, registering today should be on the top of your to-do list.
  • If you can afford it, approach a recruitment agency – Using recruitment agencies to help you bag that mobile app development job you want is a step in the right direction. Find out the placement rate of each recruitment agency you approach and make a call. You can find out how professional they are by reading reviews online and by asking people who’ve been placed by the agency about their experience with the agency.
  • Your resume matters – Spend a lot of time making your resume because that is what will separate you from the competition. Mobile app development is big in today’s world, but there is also plenty of supply to fill the demand; so, you need to stand out. If you don’t know how to prepare a resume, consider asking a successful friend or family member. You can even go online and search for tutorials on what to include and what not to include.

Bonus information

  • You can expect to wait around for a bit after sending in your application to the company you wish to work for. You can use this waiting time as a chance to prepare for the upcoming interview.
  • Good communication skills, an eager work attitude, and a well-written resume put you well ahead of your competition. Be sure to invest heavily in your communication skills because that will separate you from the rest.
  • Keep yourself future-proof by keeping up to date with whatever is happening in your industry. It wouldn’t hurt to learn new skills while you’re working too because you then become more valuable to your company.
  • Remember that once you bag a job, it doesn’t mean you can never be fired. Companies are constantly looking to cut costs and if you aren’t productive enough, you can and will be let go. Make yourself too valuable to be replaced by your company so that they cannot replace you in a couple of years with someone younger who is willing to work for less money.
  • Being professional at work goes a long way. Your colleagues will take note of the fact that you are professional and will recommend you over people who aren’t as professional.

Remember that you will face a lot of rejection looking for a job because a lot of people are looking for the same thing that you are. What matters is not your resume but your ability to persevere; perseverance will separate you from the rest.

Today, driving yourself to the office to work seems to be an outdated way to earn a living. More and more people prefer to work in the comfort of their own home. Singaporeans are one of them. If you are a computer savvy, there are numbers of websites that offer work from home in Singapore or anywhere you are.

If you are a novice in work from home set up, the easiest way to jump-start your home-based career is to start with answering consumer online survey questions. This type of surveys is what companies use today to know the opinions and thoughts of consumers before creating, introducing, or made modification on a product or in a service. So if you think your opinion doesn’t matter, well think again. The best thing about this type of home-based work is that you will be paid for it.

There are several companies who focus on conducting online surveys. Let’s take a closer look at the top survey sites in Singapore.

Opinion World

This is an online survey panel that is operated by a global provider of consumers’ views and opinions to companies. How can you earn money from this site? Easy. You just need to answer online surveys. You will be rewarded in each survey that you take.

How to Join

Opinion World offers free membership. You can simple go to this LINK and sign up, fill your information and you good to go.

Upon signing up, you will receive an activation email in your email. Activate your Opinion World account by clicking on the button in the email. Then you will be asked to create your own password to have full access on the site and few questions will be asked as well to match the best surveys for you.

How to Get Started

Opinion World’s interface is member-friendly. Your account dashboard is pretty straightforward too.

Once you access your account, you can immediately see at least three “Take a Survey” buttons so you don’t need to look anywhere else.  Just simply click on one of the buttons and you can start answering questions anytime.

The “Your Earnings” part is at the left side corner so you can check how many points you already have. You can also view your survey history as well as the corresponding points for each survey you completed.

How Long To Complete A Survey

Will it take time to complete a survey? Not really. One survey will only take a few minutes of your time. This means who can complete several surveys in a day, which in the end will give more points.

Additionally, there is no right or wrong answer. All your answers are welcomed whether you give positive or negative feedback. Keep in mind that you will still get paid even when you give negative feedback. Companies do want to hear this kind of opinions to guide them on how to improve their product or service.

The good thing about Opinion World is that you can decide how often you want to participate. Everything is under your control. You can decide how many surveys you want to take or how often you want to receive a survey invitation.  Just click on your profile setting to make modification and save any changes that you make.

How to Get Paid

Every time you complete a survey, you earn points. You can spend it whichever you like. You can exchange your points for a gift voucher or for the reward that you are saving for. You may also redeem points for cashing out using PayPal.

The steps for redeeming are simple. For instance, once you have enough points to redeem against the reward that you want, simply type in the number of points needed for that particular reward you want and click redeem.

If you choose vouchers, on the other hand, the Opinion World WebShop offers both physical and e-vouchers from several known retailers. If you choose to exchange your points with a physical voucher, then it will be sent to you in the post. If you prefer an e-voucher, you will receive it in your inbox. You can also redeem your points using Amazon gift cards which you can use to buy products such as books, music, games, consumer electronics, toys, and much more.

Privacy Issue

If you are worried about your privacy, Opinion World vows to safeguard your personal information details. The company would not share these data with any third parties.

GlobalTestMarket

Like Opinion World, GlobalTestMarket is also an online and paid survey site. It has been offering opinion surveys for almost 20 years now. It is also in partnership with top companies around the world who seek to know and understand the consumers’ mind.

The steps and rules are the almost the same in other online survey sites such as Opinion World. You can join via this LINK. Once you become a member, take a survey anytime and anywhere you want as long as you have any one of these-PC, laptop, tablet or mobile phone-and an internet connection and you are good to go.

GlobalTestMarket interface is simple but could be less engaging for new members. You can take the profile survey immediately upon joining so that the site could match the best surveys for you.

Each survey usually takes around 15 minutes to complete a survey and you can earn an average of $5 for each survey. It is also worthy to note that the reward amount may depend on the urgency of the survey and its length. GlobalTestMarket usually asks the opinion of its members about several topics such as movies, dining places, consumer products, current events, and more.

There are two ways on how to earn points in GlobalTestMarket. One is that you can earn by completing a number of surveys and the other one is to recommend someone to join the site. You can check your existing points at the upper left corner of your page. Your referral activity, on the other hand, could also be checked at the bottom of the Reward section.

You can cash out your points or redeem it for reward items from GlobalTestMarket participating partners such as Amazon and PayPal. You may also choose to make a charity donation to institutions such as UNICEF.

In general, online survey sites are risk-free. You don’t have to worry about signing up for this type of work from home jobs in Singapore. There is no commitment on the number of surveys that you should complete.

So if you’re really interested to work from home in Singapore by joining paid online survey sites, looks for those who conduct legitimate business like Opinion World and GlobalTestMarket. These sites already established a dependable reputation when it comes to market research.

You can easily spot a bogus survey site when it asks for credit card information or asks you to pay a fee to cash out your earnings. These never happen in both Opinion World and GlobalTestMarket. They will not ask you for membership fee either or to invest an amount of money to become a member.

Remember it is always free to join and to earn in online survey sites. In fact, some may sometimes send you a free product to try out and give your review about it. Easy, right? But it is a rewarding work from home in Singapore.

Lastly, everyone is looking for something different in a job. If you are one of them, this is your chance to try something new and at the same time earn money out of it. Try online survey sites and share your views about consumer products with different companies that value your opinion.

Translation and transcription jobs from home

professional-translation-service-singaporeNext up, we’ll take a look at transcription and translation work. These two forms of online work are somewhat similar, and both are challenging and fun. Translation is self-explanatory. You are given a file in one language and your job is to translate it into another with precision. Different sites have different rules, but typically you’re given files of varying sizes and you work on them one at a time.

With transcription, you’re given an audio file and are required to type out every word of the audio into document form. Again, different sites have different rules, and there may be some variance as so the notations they use. With transcribing, you have to note more than just the words. You also note moments of silence in the audio, moments of laughter, sections that might be inaudible, and more. Most sites such as www.transcribeme.com provide some online training modules that you must complete and pass before starting work.

For both of these jobs, you need to have good typing skills and an excellent grasp of punctuation and grammar in whichever language you’re working with. For TranscribeMe that would be English. You also need to have a keen ear so that you will transcribe what you hear accurately and with minimal or no errors. For translation, you need to be fluent with both the languages in question, preferably both written and verbally. Typically both jobs are pay-per-task, so the more you do, the more you earn. You may consider looking up companies in Singapore that provides more information about translation and transcription services such as Translation Services Singapore – Translationservice.sg professionaltranslation.com.sg and rafflestranslation.com.sg for translation and transcription assignments that you can work from home part time.

Part time tuition from home

part-time-jobs-from-home-tuitionAnother highly popular part time jobs from home that you could try is home tuition. There are many forms of teaching that you can do, and all can be greatly rewarding. The key is focusing on what you know and know well. Reading and writing are among the most common things parents seek tutoring for. They want their kids to get a good foundation in both, and that’s where you come in. You can advertise on local classified ad websites or do internet searches for established tutoring websites. Either way, you can line up appointments for the kids to come to you and get the one on one attention they need to improve their skills.

Other tutoring jobs may consist of similar sessions covering a number of other subjects, including math, science, and history, but they will be similar in nature. Depending upon the subject, you might be tutoring middle or high school students and, in some cases, college students. They will typically be pay-per-session. There may be a few pay-per-hour types out there, but those will be few and far between.

If you want to be successful in this type of role, you need to possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You also need to have an excellent knowledge of the subject you intend to tutor in. For English tuition, you need to have an excellent grasp of the English language including grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and conversational use. Have a look at sites such as tuitionsingapore.com.sg, championtutor.com, and hometuitionagency.com.sg to sign up as a home tuition teacher today!

Freelance jobs from home

freelance-part-time-jobs-from-homeFinally, we’ll look at one of the best paying part time jobs from home and also one of the most challenging. Many businesses and individuals are looking to have their own websites to promote their products or services. For this reason, freelance graphic and web design has become a popular choice for home-based workers.

You can find plenty of open jobs on website like odesk.com, elance.com, and freelancer.com. Sites like these offer a wide variety of home based job in multiple categories, and there is usually no shortage of available website design and development jobs. These jobs are usually pay-per-project with a set amount being given upon completion of the work, and you can work on multiple projects at the same time so long as you manage your time wisely and meet your deadlines. The catch is that you need the proper training and skills to do the work successfully. Most jobs of this kind will require you to have extensive experience with HTML and CSS programming languages. Some require SQL, Java, and other experience. You also need to have excellent attention to detail as little errors in the code can cause big problems for the website.

This type of work won’t be for everyone, but if you have the skills and expertise, you can make pretty good money while sitting at home in your pajamas. Also, when applying for these types of jobs via sites like the ones mentioned above, it’s best to provide samples of your previous work. There are usually quite a few people trying to get the contracts, and you need to make sure you put your best foot forward every time.

Work from home Jobs Summary

No matter what kind of job you might be looking for, the internet has plenty of options for you to consider. It may take a little time and effort to search for job opportunities, but it will all be worth it when you find the right one. Looking to make a bit of money on the side of studying? Just coming back into the workforce after a career break?

Or perhaps you have other commitments which take up too much time for a regular 9 to 5? There is a versatile range of jobs which you can do part-time in Singapore and still earn great money.

Barista

Everyone loves a morning coffee – so everyone loves a barista! With more than 7000 food and beverage retailers, Singapore is a mecca for all things caffeinated. Even with an average hourly wage, once you get good at brewing coffee, tips will start to stack up. Plus, you’ll get to know the morning ‘regulars’ and create a great network while you’re at it. Checkout the lastest part time food and beverage jobs opening now!

Event Promoter/Helper

Working behind the scenes at a concert, fashion show or another major event can be both fun and lucrative; generally, the work will not be difficult, and you might get to attend a show for free instead of shelling out cash for tickets! Working in events is a great way to quickly establish rapport with a group – and maybe even rub shoulder with the rich and famous. Pet expos are great events to work, and you can help demonstrate handheld vacuums for pet hair or how to properly groom pets.

Find the latest part-time events jobs now!

Personal Driver

Rideshare and quasi-taxi services like Uber and Grab are gaining huge traction in the market, and it’s super easy to get your slice of the pie! Simply sign up using their online portal. You don’t even need to purchase a car, as many of these services will allow drivers using rental cars. Invest in a handheld car vacuum to make sure the car stays nice and clean, though!

Mascot

Another fun and engaging part-time job choice, working as a mascot or brand ambassador is a great way to earn money while still engaging with something you love. Have a favourite sports team or store? Try contacting them to see whether they might need a mascot. This kind of job is particularly good for outgoing, friendly people, and those who love kids.

Freelance Emcee

Most major events and ceremonies need someone to take charge. If you are a confident public speaker and like being in front of a crowd, this could be a perfect opportunity! One huge benefit of Emcee work is that it tends to be in evenings or on weekends, so could easily fit around other life or work commitments.

Part-time Survey Assignments

Market research is another large growth area in the APAC region. Millions of dollars are spent every year by organisations who want to gain a better understanding of their target audience. Working in community surveying, you will speak with members of the public about their thoughts about a brand or product and feed this information back into the business. Cool, right? You get to see real results and hear real opinions about what people want. Check out Toluna is a professional Online Market Research company with 10 million Online Survey Takersworldwide.

Elderly Care

Working part time caring for the elderly is rewarding in more than one sense. It pays well, but will also allow you to give something back to the community and really make a difference! Many of us have older family members who have needed, or will need, care at some point – so why not repay the favour and look after another member of the community in need? Find latest part time nursing jobs today!

Delivery Driver

You name it, people want it delivered. You can work directly for a restaurant or takeaway joint, or explore food delivery services such as UberEats. Couriers are also in hot demand! The best part is that you can choose your vehicle of choice – maybe you would prefer to bike around the city? If so, you get the added benefit of keeping fit while getting paid!

Tuition Teacher

Teaching doesn’t just have to happen in the classroom. In fact, there is a huge appetite in the modern age for home-based or distance learning programs. Pick something you excel at – maybe you could teach another language or a skill such as guitar or robotics. The options are endless! You can advertise privately as a teacher or use an agency based service, and again the flexibility of hours will offer you the opportunity to continue with other pursuits.

Swimming Assistant Instructor

If you’re a strong swimmer, why not share the knowledge with the next generation? Teaching children (or adults) to swim is very fun, and can be a great way to keep fit and healthy yourself. Of course, you should only do this job if you yourself are an excellent swimmer – it’s hard to teach what you don’t know! Also, some swim schools will require you have a current first aid certificate, so check this first.

Part time Tennis Assistant Instructor

As with swimming, this can be a very fun and healthy way to make money. Tennis is a popular sport in APAC and doesn’t require a lot of expensive equipment. Many local tennis clubs will employ coaches, particularly those who are great players themselves. Call your local tennis club or your local tennis association to see whether they could use your services!

Interior Design Consultant

Everyone thinks interior designers have to be expensive when this really isn’t the case. If you have a good eye for detail and any experience in renovating or remodelling a home, this could be a role for you! Wealthy individuals may just want a hand from someone in selecting colour palettes or furniture for a new home. You can even help them with appliance decisions, like finding the best handheld vacuum cleaner or top of the line dishwasher. Note that in some cases clients will want you to have tertiary qualifications in this area.

Event Helper

So maybe you can’t manage or run events, but you can certainly help out! Every large event is made up from small details – there needs to be someone to unfold the chairs, set the tables, hang the lines, etc. Again, roles in events tend to work around normal working hours, so if necessary you could do this in the evenings and weekends. And, as with event management, you might get free tickets or merchandise! Approach large event companies to see whether they have any helping opportunities.

App/Brand Ambassador

Just like community surveys and mascots, brand ambassadors play a vital role in establishing public awareness of a brand or market. This role is suitable for a confident friendly individual who isn’t afraid to talk to others! Often brand ambassadors will stand in visible, busy places – like the supermarket or shopping mall – so it’s also a good way to network and socialise. And many of the brands that engage ambassadors might create more prominent roles for those individuals down the track, so it’s a great foot in the door!

Data Entry

Many think of data entry as being boring and slow, but this doesn’t have to be the case! For one, this job can usually be done from home, and on your own time – so you can stay on the couch in your pyjamas! You might get to work with fascinating data, and maybe even learn something new. Besides, not everyone wants a fast-paced, stressful job or a role suited for an extrovert – some of us would rather stay indoors and work with numbers, and that’s just fine. Data entry roles usually pay very well, too. View the full list of the latest part-time data entry job openings now!

Part-time Banquet Staff

Working part-time at major banquets combines many elements that people love. For one, you will probably get to work with delicious food! And in this industry notoriously, staff members get to take home leftovers. As with many other roles on this list, working part-time in banquets will usually be late evenings and weekends, leaving you free to enjoy life during the weekdays. You’ll most likely get paid either by event or by hour – either way, there is money to be made if you take on enough work!

Chef de partie

Our final job in the list also combines food with service, but a chef de partie usually works under a lot more pressure. While it may be stressful cooking perfect food for paying guests, it’s also very rewarding and flexible in terms of hours. Starting out as a chef de partie creates great career progression towards a career as a fully-fledged chef or another professional in the hospitality industry if you so desire. And, if not, you’ll learn great skills that will make you more popular at home!

So – what are you waiting for? Find more part time jobs in Singapore using our our jobs portal and go make some money!

The world is changing and much of the change is rapid. The Singapore economy reported a steady year for 2017, but job losses across all sectors are a concern to politicians, sector leaders and workers.

With a changing landscape comes a change in business and job opportunities. Jobs that are sought after and well paid now may not exist by the year 2025, or at least so say some of the experts. So what jobs await the population of Singapore? Below is a list of 15 future careers waiting to be filled.

1. Data scientist and analysts

As the way we collect data alters, a niche for data scientists and analysts is opening up. Increased data collection on everything from the type of TV shows people watch to what groceries they buy requires interpretation, analysis and application.

While we have the technology to collect data, we need people to do the hard yards of applying the information into relevant useable information that can positively affect businesses.

2. Cyber security professionals

As Singapore moves toward becoming a smart nation and more and more companies store important data, cyber security will also become an issue. No doubt this is an area of growth for future employees.

3. Artificial Intelligence Engineers

Experts believe that every industry has a need for artificial intelligence and jobs in this area will rise considerably into the future. Already, demand is higher than supply for artificial intelligence engineers. And of course this is likely to continue. The good news is that artificial intelligence engineers are required in pretty much most organisations, as companies strive to make advances in computers being able to think, learn and adapt. Creativity is also an advantage, as problems that require solving are new problems and may require creative solutions.

4. Robotics Engineers

Both agriculture and manufacturing jobs have fallen victim to technological advances. It is predicted that the robotic industry is moving into the tertiary sector, stripping the white-collar workers of their jobs.

But it is not all doom and gloom. Many companies use robotic technology and whilst this has lead to a decrease of workers in some areas, it has also left a shortage on another front. Companies using robotics in their work force are finding it difficult to find skilled workers to operate and maintain this highly specialised machinery.

5. Nanotechnology Engineers

A new and exciting growth area is nanotechnology. Areas nanotechnology covers are vast and diverse, from improving batteries to creating cosmetics and car and plane manufacturing, to researching the nature of matter itself. Good news is that to work in this predicted growth area not everyone will need a doctorate degree in science or engineering. Different skill levels will cater for different job opportunities in this area.

6. Regulatory and Compliance Professionals

With companies developing and adopting new technologies all the time they will be looking to hire people who understand the relevant laws and are able to work within government regulations to implement the new technology.

7. Digital and Social Media Marketers

Businesses are already using social media to market their product or business and this is likely to become a specialised area in the future. Relying on digital and social media for marketing means the effectiveness of different campaigns is able to be monitored much more effectively than old fashioned marketing. Businesses will higher specialised people to interpret marketing data and develop effective campaigns.

8. Blockchain programmers (FinTech)

Blockchain has come onto the world stage on the back of bitcoin, with many people not familiar with the precise way blockchain operates. Whilst some believe it may simply be a passing phase, experts predict growth as far as blockchain programmers are concerned.

9. Senior Care Specialist

With an increase in medical advances and better living conditions, we live longer and are becoming an ageing population. This trend will open up a whole range of employment and business opportunities. We will require more aged care workers/carers. These will not only need to look after the physical need of the elderly but also their psychological wellbeing.

10. Urban Farmers

People are becoming aware of the damage industrialised farming is having on the environment. Over time urban farming will continue to increase, as it becomes an important part of the food chain. People will want to know how their food is grown and transported to the seller. Urban farming ensures people can buy locally produced produce at their local green grocer or farmers market.

Already urban farms are growing as people are reaping the benefit.

11. 3D Printing Professionals

For years now the manufacturing and prototype industries have made use of 3D printing, with the consumer showing little interest. Experts predict that in the future this may change. Whilst people will not use the technology themselves they will hire 3D printing professionals to make bespoke products for them.

12. Virtual Reality and Holographic Engineers

Virtual reality is making its way into the home and office and will continue to do so into the future. Soon an actual office will no doubt be a thing of the past and a virtual office the way of the future. Those creative and brilliant in virtual reality design and holographic engineers will be in high demand.

13. Drone pilots

Drones have many uses from aerial photography to surveying and warfare, to name but a few of them. With an increase in the use of drones, there will be an increase in the need for drone pilots.

14. Pre-school/ Kindergarten Teachers

Good news is that we still require teachers into the future. Whilst the way children are taught may change, a classroom teacher is still required, particularly for the younger age bracket.

15. Bio-medical Engineers

Another growth area combines medical science and engineering principles to design and make devices, equipment and computer systems and software used in health care. From sophisticated artificial limbs to more intricate biodesign, bio-medical engineers will continue to be a growth area as far as employment opportunities are concerned.

Conclusion

Whilst experts agree that there will be job losses across a range of industries, Graeme Codrington remains optimistic. According to Codrington, if we look at history we find that the labour market has always found a way to bounce back, create new jobs when old ones have been destroyed. He believes a similar phenomenon will occur this time, with people creating jobs to fill a niche market. People are resilient and innovative.

A changing landscape in the employment sector will simply mean people responding with business ideas not yet thought of and jobs that are yet to be invented.

Exciting times are ahead.
